Apology + Fairy Tail Chapter 488 Discussion

Hi, Lynette here! So firstly, I missed Thursday Quotables, and I haven’t managed to find any good quotes either recently. Sorry about that.

And next comes my Fairy Tail Chapter 488 Discussion.

SPOILERS!!
So first, Gajeel and Levy became officially canon I guess?

And secondly *screams* MY PREVIOUS PREDICTION WAS RIGHT?! GAJEEL DIED RIGHT AFTER THE SHIP BECOMING CANON JUST LIKE ZERVIS AGGHHH

But I’ve thought about it more now and I actually think that Gajeel will most likely come back. After all, everyone thought Gray died that time during the Grand Magic Games Arc right, but then Ultear reversed time. Same with Lucy and probably a few others (but I’ve forgotten now). Mashima doesn’t really kill many characters, with Simon as one of the only people actually dying.

That being said, Fairy Tail is probably drawing to its end, which means deaths can be likely to happen. I’ve never read or watched Rave Master before but I think I’ve heard that it ends sadly, (I may be wrong though) so Mashima wanted to make Fairy Tail a happy series? Well I hope he sticks to that.

And secondly, darn it, Mest! It was meant to be just a negotiation but now look what you’ve done! I never really liked Mest to be honest, and I could never see him as a Fairy Tail member and I still probably won’t be able to.

Also I know it’s a bit late now, considering the fact that she’s already made quite a few appearances in the other chapters, but I love Eileen’s design! She’s probably the most well designed character in the whole series. Oh, I also wonder what relationship she has with Erza. She seems a bit too young to be her mother so maybe they’re sisters? Oh well I hope we can find out soon.

I also want to state that I really want to know what’s going to happen with Zervis (as its my OTP I can’t help but be excited). Cana is currently trying to break Mavis’ body out but what is Mavis actually going to do afterwards? Is she going to fight him or what?

(a bit of self-promo here) check out my wattpad @kiwikoneko if you want to read any fanfictions about Fairy Tail or One Piece!

Okay I’m not sure what else to say now, but I’m excited for the next chapter of FT coming out on Monday! If anyone has any thoughts, please comment!

Death Note

Death Note follows the story of a highly intelligent teenage boy called Light Yagami, who finds a notebook one day which allows him to kill anyone just by writing their name down. Excited by this idea of being able to become the God of a new world in which no criminals live in, Light starts to kill criminals using just the notebook. He soon becomes known to the world as Kira, and slowly becomes insane with this idea of a world without crime ruled by him.

However, L, who is an extremely clever and talented detective decides to start a case on finding and defeating Kira, giving Light a difficult obstacle to overcome.

This anime may sound like any ordinary detective or crime series, but is amazing and very unique, standing out from all other detective and crime anime, or stories in general. I highly recommend Death Note, particularly for those who like thrillers, but it is still an incredible anime for everyone, hooking me on very quick, and I’m not someone who particularly likes crime stories.

Daily Lives of High School Boys

This anime series is exactly what the title says. It’s about the daily lives of typical high school boys. It mainly follows the story of Tadakuni, Yoshitake and Hidenori, who are some boys that love roleplays on the way to school, like telling ‘ghost stories’ which all turn out be extremely lame, like getting up to mischief such as wearing girls’ underwear and clothes, or just fooling around in general. It also shows some other boys from their school (such as those in the student council) and what sort of things they get up to.

This anime is hilarious and is certain to crack you up at some point. I would definitely recommend if you want a laugh, or just something to cheer you up!

TMI vs. TID Tag

Hey guys! Today I’m gonna do a tag I saw on Clockwork Bibliophile‘s blog, called the TMI/TID tag. If you haven’t yet taken a look at Clockwork Bibliophile’s blog, you should – it’s amazing!

The TMI/TID tag was originally created by Samantha’s Books. It’s basically a tag comparing The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices. I love Cassie Clare, she’s one of my favourite authors, and personally, I think that TID is by far the best of her novels, so I’ll probably be a little bit biased in my choices…Anyways, let’s get on with the tag!

Oh, and spoilers for The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices ahead!

Questions

Favourite main character: Clary or Tessa?

Definitely Tessa! Tessa was by far better than Clary, I absolutely loved her character! Not sure about you, but I got the feeling that Clary was slightly arrogant and self-centered (which I guess is alright seeing as she did pretty much save the world) but I never got that from Tessa. Plus Tessa is a badass shapeshifting warlock so…

Favourite Herondale: Jace or Will?

This is a super easy question. I might have mentioned it before, I’m not sure, but I HATE Jace. He is just so, so annoying! I genuinely cannot fathom why everybody is obsessed with him…like why!! People want to meet Jace because they’re in love with him. I wanna meet Jace so I can punch him in the face. Okay, I’m not that violent but come on. Anyone else hate Jace? Or is it just me?

Plus Will is awesome, almost as awesome as Jem. He is sassy and sarcastic and just…well, plain amazing. Mia and Lynette have heard me say this lots, but come on, who DOESN’T love Will Herondale? You can’t read The Infernal Devices and not love Will!

Favourite love triangle: Clary/Simon/Jace or Will/Jem/Tessa?

Easy. Looks like TID scores once again – Herongraystairs it is! Will, Jem and Tessa are the cutest and they actually all accept each other loving Tessa (and one another) whereas with Simon, Jace and Clary it was initially just a jealousy war. Will doesn’t mind Jem loving Tessa (well he did, but he was understanding enough) and Jem doesn’t mind Will loving Tessa.

On the topic of ships, shoutout to Malec, the cutest couple in all of Cassie Clare’s books! Malec are OTP goals.

Better villain: Sebastian or the Magister?

At last! Finally something which I can say The Mortal Instruments is better at! Sebastian was so much more evil that the Magister could ever be – the way he planned all his attacks were so, so clever! I mean, you’d’ve have never suspected that Sebastian was initially working for Valentine, what with him loving Clary and living in Idris all his life.

Better army: The Dark Army or the Clockwork Army?

I’m gonna have to say the Dark Army for this one. Both the armies were equally as strong and powerful as the other, but I think the Dark Army were just a little bit more painful to defeat, seeing as they were humans, people’s loved ones converted into dark, morbid creatures by Sebastian. It would’ve been a little more hard for Clary to kill them knowing they didn’t mean to murder, knowing the pain she would cause to their loved ones.

Best first book: City of Bones or Clockwork Angel?

Clockwork Angel without doubt. I finished the book in less then a day, along with the rest of the Infernal Devices series. I remember my mum judging me for reading the book pretty much every second I was free. I liked the City of Bones too, I just think Clockwork Angel had more going on from Book 1, you fell in love with it quicker.

Best female sidekick: Cecily Herondale or Isabelle Lightwood?

I’m going to say Izzy for this one, mainly because we didn’t get to see Cecily all that much, so I don’t know how good a sidekick she’d be. However, if she was in the books more, than I have a feeling I’d pick her over Izzy.

Best setting: The New York Institute or the London Institute?

Well it depends, really. If you mean the book New York Institute, old and classic, then I’d go there, but if you mean the New York Institute we saw in the TV Series, Shadowhunters, modern and hi-tech, then I’d have to say the London Institute. But I hope it doesn’t rain as much in the Victorian times as it does in 2016 London.

Best last book: City of Heavenly Fire or Clockwork Princess?

Clockwork Princess definitely. Like Clockwork Angel I COULD NOT put this book down. I literally sped through it and gahh the epilogue. Don’t even get me started on the pain that epilogue inflicted on me. CoHF was good too, I just think I’m Team TID more than I am Team TMI. 🙂

Better final epilogue: City of Heavenly Fire or Clockwork Princess?

Oh look there’s a whole question dedicated to the epilogue! I didn’t even realise. Well, you know my answer already, the ending of Clockwork Princess was AMAZING. Which means it was the most beautiful part of The Infernal Devices, yet the tears, ugh the tears. Cassandra Clare is one cruel author. Even if Will did die of old age. It was still painful.

I can see Clockwork Princess right next to me on my bookshelf and I’m really tempted to reread the epilogue but I’m not sure if should..it’s just too sad!

Results

Okay so the final results are:

6.5 – 3.5

Looks like TID wins by 2.5 points! Just like I predicted. Like Shannon @ Clockwork Bibliophile said in her post, TID is definitely the superior series. It just had that much more feels in it, you know? But by the angel, I loved doing that tag! It was super fun! âž°

I’m not going to tag anyone specific seeing as I’m not sure who has read Cassie’s books and who hasn’t, so if you want to do this tag please feel free to do so! Just put your link down in the comments, as I’d love to read your post!!

Also – credits to Yukihime-San @ DeviantArt for the cover image!

10 Facts About Harry Potter #5

I think it’s about time that I did another 10 Facts About Harry Potter – don’t you? It’s been a while since I last did one, which is a pity as I really enjoy HP Trivia. I have written four other Ten Facts About HP, which you can read over here

This Ten Facts is pretty exciting, as it will total my facts to 50 overall, counting all 5 of my posts. However, having already written 40 facts, I have to really dig further through the hidden depths of the Potterverse to find some more trivia.

Therefore, I’d love to hear any facts about Harry Potter that YOU have. It could be something you read about online, a fact you found out in Warner Bros Studio/Universal, or just some really interesting trivia you know! Just drop a comment below, and I’ll feature some of the facts that appear in the comments in my next post! Thanks, and I hope you enjoy Ten Facts About Harry Potter #5!

  1. Ron’s Patronus is a Jack Russel Terrier. Pretty cool, seeing as Jack Russel Terriers have a reputation for chasing otters…which as you may or may not know is Hermione’s Patronus. I’m not a Ronmione shipper, but you have to admit that this is pretty cute.
  2. J.K Rowling herself was actually sorted into Hufflepuff, on her Pottermore quiz.
  3. When the Death Eaters originally formed, they were actually called the Knights of Walpurgis. Ehh…I’m not sure, I think Death Eaters has a better ring to it, don’t you?
  4. (This isn’t really a fact, more of a theory-kinda thing, but it was soo interesting I just HAD to feature it here!) Evans, as in Lily Evans, is almost Snape backwards, right? The only real thing preventing it from being Snape backwards is the letter ‘P’ or the ‘V’. And if you remember, the only people keeping Snape from being with Lily was Voldemort – ‘V’ for Voldemort – and James Potter – ‘P’ for Potter. Pretty cool, huh?
  5. J.K. didn’t just choose Kings Cross as the Hogwarts station for any old reason. Kings Cross has a special meaning to her, it was the place where her mother and her father first met, aged 18. To her, Kings Cross is one of the most magical, romantic places.
  6. As a child, J.K Rowling was good friends with the children of a family with the surname Potter. She’d always loved the surname Potter. She often got teased for the surname Rowling and people would call her nicknames – such as ‘rolling pin’, and she’d preferred the name Potter much more than Rowling.
  7. Throughout the films, three different owls played the role of Hedwig – Gizmo, Ook and Sprout.
  8. In the movie of the Philosopher’s Stone, Harry loses a chocolate frog, because it jumps out of the window. In the epilogue of the Deathly Hallows, a chocolate frog is seen climbing through a window.
  9. At the end of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, after the credits roll out, you can see a little disclaimer saying – ‘No dragons were harmed in the making of this movie’.
  10. JKR was originally planning to kill off Ron, but she decided to let him live, as a reward for Harry.

Hope you enjoyed my fifth Ten Facts About Harry Potter!

Bet You Didn’t Notice – 5. My Fan Theories about Wren from Lady Midnight

So, when I was flicking through Lady Midnight looking for quotes, I came across this one, which made me stop in my tracks.

“Kit noticed an odd drawing on the back of her hand, a symbol like lines of water running underneath a flame”
Lady Midnight, Cassandra Clare

This I found odd. Lines of water running underneath a flame……. It sounds a bit like the poem. “First the flame and then the flood”. I think there might be something dodgy about Wren. She played too big a part in the intro not to re-appear. And those doodles on her hand make me suspect she’s not as pleasant as she seems.

I mean, the way she ran away when the Shadowhunters arrives was rather suspicious. And no one knows her real name.

I think maybe she’s gonna come back as someone dodgy, and when she does, I think they’ll be a big betrayal for Kit.

I have literally this second had a thought. Wren is a normal mundane who has been taught magic by an unnamed warlock. What if the unnamed warlock was Malcom????? Then maybe Wren would have some sort of allegiance to him, except now he’s dead, to Annabel Lee????????

I think I’m on to something.

What do you think?

Do you think Wren will re-appear?

Do you think Wren is evil?

Do you think the warlock was Malcom?

And do you think Wren will help Annabel Lee?

I think I may have just cracked something. Cassie- we’re onto you!

Bet You Didn’t Notice – 4. Harry Potter Films Voldemort Nose

We all know that Voldie has no nose in the films. Rose took his nose I suppose. (Gettit? Rose was Harry’s dad, but the random crank in The Maze Runner had his nose taken by someone called Rose).

However not many people notice that Voldemort had a nose in the first movie.

According to my friend Tabby, perhaps Voldemort’s soul has a nose, despite the fact his real self doesn’t.

But I think Warner Bros just decided that that Voldemort wasn’t scary enough and he’d be scarier blue and with no nose. Personally I don’t find smurfs that scary, but Warner Bros obviously had a thing against them.

Also, may I say that in the books, Voldemort had scarlet (aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa fangirling attack fangirling attack. My iPad just autocorrected scarlet to the name Scarlet (with a capital S) just like Scarlet from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. Now boy is that a good book. You can check out our review for it here (Cinder is the first book by the way) and I seriously recommend reading it as it is amazing) eyes. Where did they go? That could have taken him to a whole new level of scary.

Bet You Didn’t Notice – 3. Taylor Swift Ours TMI Malec Love

I know the title sounds weird and random, but it’s not, trust me.

Ok, so, strictly this shouldn’t really be here, as it’s not really something to notice/not notice, but it’s too good to miss out. If you haven’t read The Mortal Instruments (by Cassandra Clare) then I would advise you read no further. Warning over.

Anyway, Malec definately deserve their own post. As does Taylor Swift. So here it is!

So, I was listening to the Taylor Swift song Ours (if you haven’t heard it, I seriously advise you listen to it- it’s amazing!!!!! You can listen to it here. Seriously listen to it- it’s amazing. One of her best songs. Ever) and I suddenly noticed how if Malec had their own theme song (which they totally deserve) it would be this song. I shall now explain why.

Full credit to Taylor Swift for the awesome lyrics, full credit to me for spotting the link with Malec.

So, the first relevant lyrics goes like this:

“Seems like there’s always someone who disapproves” (Taylor Swift, Ours)

In Malec love, this is just so true. Everyone dissaproves. Everyone. There’s more like this in this verse (“they’ll judge it like the know about me and you” “the jury’s out, but my choice is you”) and all of them make me think of Malec’s troubles. In the chorus there’s also “people through rocks at things that shine” “life makes love look hard” “the stakes are high, the water’s rough” which just add to this. I mean, it’s a total fit, right? I wouldn’t be suprised if it was based on Malec.

The next part fits so well I wanna scream. It’s in verse two.

“Ghosts from your past gonna jump out at me”

EEEEEEEEK

I mean, this is exactly Alec’s problem, right? That there are all these “ghosts of Magnus’ past”, all his exes. Poor Alec. But it’s such an amazing fit.

Then there’s the next verse, which is brilliant.

“And it’s not theirs to speculate, if it’s wrong and, your hands are tough but they are where, mine belong in. I’ll fight their doubt and give you faith, with this song for you”

How perfect is that???? I just love this verse. It makes me wanna cry. And it just fits Malec so well.

Now, next comes the part where Tay sings, “and any snide remarks from my father…… will be ignored, coz my heart is yours”. I MEAN THIS IS SO MALEC- ROBERT IS SO DISAPPROVING!!! (The ……. does say “about your tattoos”, but we can’t have it all. Remove that part and it fits so perfectly I probably will cry. This cross of two of my absolute fave fandoms just makes me wanna scream, cry, listen to the song and re read the book all at once. If you don’t get it, imagine your fave singer/band writing a song that fits one of your fave couples from one of your absolute fave books. Now you understand)

Finally, I’m gonna say this quote from the very end. “People throw rocks at things that shine, but they can’t take what’s ours. The stakes are high, the water’s rough, but this love is ours.” I MEAN HOW PERFECT DOES IT GET????? I AM A PUDDLE OF TEARS ON THE FLOOR RIGHT NOW. This is so perfect. From now own Malec’s motto is officially “they can’t take what’s ours”

I just love this song and book so much. I seriously recommend both to everyone. And I love the way they link together, and I hope you do too.

GO MALEC AND T SWIFT!!!!!!!!!

Shadowhunters TV Series – Review (Part 3 of 3)

The final part of my Shadowhunters review, and the most fun part – the Easter eggs! Read Part 1 – the positives – here, and Part 2 – the negatives – here.

I’m so proud of myself. I actually spotted these easter eggs myself, which is a first. Usually I’m so caught up in what’s actually happening, that I don’t really bother to look at the little things. Ok, some of these hidden details are not-so hidden, and kinda obvious but come on, let me be happy!

Ok, so my first one would have to be the subtle, and the not so subtle mentions of the one and only Tessa Gray. Yup, it’s Tessa, from the Infernal Devices. *screams*

img_5118

So the first one would be this scene, where the Shadowhunters are trying to find a warlock more powerful that Magnus, to help awaken Jocelyn. Izzy does some research and whittles it down to three warlocks. At this point I’m getting really excited – what if there’s a warlock that I know, someone from the rest of the series? I pause the screen and bam – Tessa. I had to literally press my face to the screen to check if I was seeing right. Tessa Gray. And what’s this it says? Her occupation – a scholar? *squeals* And she’s in LA? Woah, woah, woah wait. What if she went to the Los Angeles Institute? The Blackthorns and the Carstairs? *screams louder*. The only thing that ended my fangirling fit was Tessa’s hair. IT’S BLOND!! It’s meant to be brown! What’ve they done to you Tessa?

image

Ok now here’s the not-so subtle mention. Magnus needed reinforcements to protect the warlocks from Valentine, so he ordered someone to summon a bunch of other warlocks. One of which included Tessa. Aaaaaah!

image

Now here’s the theory I have. Magnus has this picture of him, Ragnor Fell and another lady, which I’m guessing is probably a warlock. Now judging from the way they’re dressed, and also just her looks….do you think she might be Tessa? Look at the picture…I mean, you have to admit that does look like Tessa (a bit)…way more than that picture of her above. Comment below to tell me who you think the third warlock is!

Now a small, not-so subtle Bane Chronicles mention.

image.png

Yuuup, it’s Imasu Morales, the charango player from Peru. Remember him? He and Magnus were together, for a while, until Imasu finally broke up with Magnus.

Well that is it for my easter eggs! Those are the ones which I found – but according to Kat McNamara the series is full of them – including props and background characters. If you noticed any other easter eggs, drop a comment below, I’d love to find out! Thanks, and I hope you enjoyed reading my review on Shadowhunters!

Shadowhunters TV Series – Review (Part 2 of 3)

Hi everyone! This is Part 2 on my review for Freeform’s TV Adaptation of the Mortal Instruments. If you haven’t yet read Part 1, click here. There are spoilers in this post!! Do not proceed unless you wish to be spoiled!

Right…so it’s time for the negatives…This post IS longer than my positive post, but maybe that’s just me being nit-picky, so don’t be put off by it, and go watch Shadowhunters! But read the books first. Definitely.

img_5187-1

Firstly, what’s up Simon’s band? The Champagne Enema/Rock Solid Panda (as it’s named at the time) is only a two-person band – isn’t it supposed to have four people? And guess what. It’s gets worse. Said band consists of Simon…and Maureen. Yuuup, Maureen Brown. No, I’m not kidding, this IS the same Maureen who turned into a crazy, obsessive vampire who became the leader of the New York vampires. The same Maureen who locked Simon up, who went by the name Queen Maureen. What the hell is she doing in Simon’s band! Aaah, how it annoys me when adaptations stray so far away from the books!

img_5189-1

Also, Clary needs to be wayyy shorter. She’s supposed to be tiny and petite, but she really isn’t! She’s just an average height! And aren’t her eyes supposed to be a vibrant green? They didn’t even look green. Jace seems to be more or less like the Jace in the book, but I don’t know, I just don’t really think he works as Jace. Alec didn’t have blue eyes! Come on, get the eye colours right, people! Soon you’re gonna make a TID TV show and give Will Herondale hazel eyes or something, and that’s when the fangirls will go really mad.

img_5191-1

The runes were a bit weird too…Firstly, the actors never really drew them. They just kinda waved their steles around in random shapes, hoping that special effects would fill everything in for them. End result – hand movements that look nothing like the runes below. Ok, fine, I guess it may be a bit hard to remember all the runes – but what I didn’t like was the fact that runes like iratzes didn’t fade away. You could just slide your stele over it, and it would literally be reapplied. Just like that. That’s not how its supposed to work! Ok, maybe I’m being slightly over dramatic, but come on, they’ve already messed up the movie adaptation, can’t they at least get it right, second attempt?

img_5193-1

Also about Malec. As I said, I thought Malec were perfect in the TV series, but just one tiny little problem. In the boo, the Clave disapproved of relationships like their’s, therefore they thought it would be best if nobody knew about their relationship, and kept it a secret, for a while. Well, that ain’t gonna work if your first kiss is in front of the whole Institute and a bunch of people from Idris as well! Get it right, people! In the book, Magnus and Alec were much, much more sensible, and kissed in Alicante, before battle, not the minute they discovered they were in love!

img_5194-1

Another problem with Malec is that immortality argument they have in the books, about how Magnus was immortal and therefore loved other people. Remember that argument? I know, nobody likes to think of those dark, dark days, but that argument happened wayyy later on in the books, in the latter half. Then why did the TV show have to make it happen in the first season? No. You are not gonna make Malec argue this early. No.

img_5178

Also Ragnor Fell is meant to have horns and green skin. But no. He just has his horns. And Catarina Loss, she needs to have BLUE skin! But she seems to have no warlock’s mark at all, by the looks of it!

img_5195-1

And finally, THERE WAS NO BROTHER ZACHARIAH! If you’ve read The Infernal Devices, I’m sure you’ll feel my pain. Because Brother Zachariah is very important, they can’t just…not have him! Aaagh!

Well those were my problems….they may seem really small and stupid, but come on! I don’t want them to mess up The Mortal Instruments for the second time!!

😂
